Wow, have we been busy!!! The students have been hard at work writing sentences, reading sight words and reading simple stories. We have also been reviewing many math skills, such as: making and reading graphs, identifying coins and their value, reading number words (zero - ten), writing numerals to 30 and identifying ordinal numbers (first-tenth). Soon we will begin adding numbers up to ten.
We have really enjoyed our unit on plants/flowers. We have learned to identify the parts of a plant and a flower. We can also tell you some trees give us flowers and fruit and some trees just have leaves. We are growing grass seed and also will be planting some sunflower seeds and bean seeds.
It is wonderful practice for your child to read the small books sent home to review story structure, sight words and comprehension. Please review the papers sent home in order to practice skills learned and to help your child retain the information. This will also help them prepare for first grade.
In a few days, I will add some information to the blog to let you know about our Spring rotation day on the 25th of March- we will rotate to each kindergarten class for different activities, crafts, and games. I will also let you know about our annual Spring egg hunt on April 3rd.
Thank you so much for working with your child/reading with your child to give them a good foundation. Please contact me here or at: denise.kettles@cobbk12.org if you have any questions.
Ms. Kettles and Ms. Jo
p.s. Report cards will come home Thursday, March 19th - please sign and return the signature card and keep the report card itself.
