Marvelous May!

I cannot believe that we are already in the month of May! This school year has flown by! We are really getting prepared to be first graders. We will begin learning subtraction and continue working on more difficult addition problems. We will wrap up our study of animals and review concepts we have learned throughout the year.

I have really enjoyed having your children in my class this year. They definitely keep me laughing and on my toes. I will truly miss them this summer, but I am certain that they will have a wonderful time in first grade.

Awesome April!

It is hard to believe that we are now in the month of April! This year is flying by, but we still have a lot coming up in kindergarten!

Sat. April 18 Spring Clean-Up

After Spring Break, we will begin learning about how to group animals and how to compare animals and their offspring. We will continue to learn addition skills and begin subtraction. We will also be having some new additions to our classroom...BABY CHICKS! We will get to see them hatch out of eggs and grow for a week before they have to go back to the farm. I hope everyone has a fun and safe Spring Break!

Fabulous February!

February will be an exciting month in kindergarten. We will celebrate "Pancake Day" on February 9th. We will be cooking delicious pancakes and reading books about pancakes! On February 12th, the fifth graders from Mt. Bethel elementary will be visiting and helping us with Valentine crafts, reading books to us, and eating lunch in the room with us! It will be a fun filled day! Class picture day is on February 13th. The school Valentine dance is that night.

There is no school on Monday, February 16th for Presidents' Day. Have your child tell you about Presidents Lincoln, Washington, and Obama.

Also in February, we will have two presentations about keeping our teeth healthy! We will learn how to brush, floss, and eat healthy.

The last week of February we will begin celebrating Dr. Seuss! We will be reading his books and doing Seuss activities.

Happy New Year!!!

I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday break! We have a lot planned for the next few months! We are approaching the 100th Day of School on January 22nd, which is a big celebration focusing on 100. We will make 100 trail mix, do 100 exercises, and do other fun "100" activities! Conference week is coming up the last week of January. I am excited to share all of the wonderful things about your children!

Merry December!!!

Holly It's hard to believe that December is here! It is a wonderful month to learn about different holidays that people celebrate around the world!

On December 18th we will be having our annual Polar Express Day! We will be watching the movie on the cafeteria stage, and students are allowed to wear their pajamas to school that day!

Please continue to read with your child at home. Also, please work on tying shoes and zipping coats at home! Thanks!

Hooray for November!

November will be a busy month of learning about Thanksgiving! We will be focusing on the Pilgrims and Native Americans. We will also be learning how they celebrated the first Thanksgiving, and how Thanksgiving is celebrated today.

I hope to see everyone at the Kindergarten VIP Lunch on November 19th! The cafeteria staff always prepares a wonderful feast!

October is Here!

The leaves are falling down! The leaves are falling down!
Red, yellow, green, and brown, the leaves are falling down!

Pumpkin We are going on a field trip to the Pettit Creek Farms pumpkin patch on October 16th! We need permission slips and $13.00 (to pay for admission and the bus). We are excited to go on our first kindergarten field trip!!!

On Thursday, October 2, we are having a "Read for the Record" day. We will be reading the book Corduroy  and rotating to all of the kindergarten classrooms for BEAR activities! Don't forget to bring your teddy bear on this day!

I can't believe it's September! We are now learning about helpers in our community, such as fire fighters, police officers, doctors, nurses, teachers, construction workers, and many more!
